FOP MEETING REMINDER
Our February 2012 meeting will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Our Lady of the Rosary School Cafeteria, 1342 Moss St., with entrance and parking on Esplanade Ave.  Dinner will be served at 6:30PM, and the meeting will begin at 7:00PM. 
 
Many important issues will be discussed.  All members, active and retired, are urged to attend.
 
FOP MEETING WITH OCHSNER
 
Continuing our efforts to find concrete solutions to the problems facing our membership, the Fraternal Order of Police has met with a with a local physician who is an expert in healthcare administration and our FOP leadership will be meeting with representatives of the Ochsner Medical Centers tomorrow (Tuesday, February 7, 2012). 
 
In January of this year, the City of New Orleans increased healthcare premiums for its employees and retirees (including NOPD) by as much as 40%, and at the same time eliminated all "out of network" coverage leaving members scrambling to find new physicians and facilities.  When premiums, deductibles, and maximum out-of-pocket expenditures are totaled, a city of New Orleans employee (or retiree) can see potential annual healthcare costs exceeding $15,000.00.
 
It is our hope that by leveraging the strength of our membership (2,000 in New Orleans, 6,000 in Louisiana, and over 325,000 nationwide) we will be able to form partnerships that will provide benefits to our members, both in the healthcare arena and elsewhere.
 

MEETING REMINDER
 
The next schedule meeting of the Fraternal Order of Police, Crescent City Lodge, will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Our Lady of the Rosary School cafeteria, located at 1342 Moss St., with entrance and parking from Esplanade Avenue.  Dinner will be served at 6:30PM and the meeting will begin at 7:00PM
 
EKNOWLEDGE SAT / ACT POWERPREP PROGRAMS
 
The Grand Lodge FOP Educational Services Committee has announced a continuing partnership with eKnowledge Corporation, which is donating copies of their $200.00 SAT and ACT PowerPrep Programs to FOP members and their families.  This sponsorship program is a proven, effective way to offer free college test programs to high school students who are preparing to take the S.A.T. or A.C.T. college entrance examinations.
 
The SAT and ACT PowerPrep programs come in a single DVD and include more than 11 hours of video instruction, 3000 files of supplemental test prep material, sample questions, and practice tests.  Students select the training they need and study at their own pace.

2012 ACT Test Dates are:  February 11th; April 14th, June 9th

2011 December Newsletter

MEETING REMINDER

Our December 2011 meeting will be held on Thursday, December 08, 2011 at Our Lady of the Rosary School Cafeteria, 1342 Moss St., with entrance and parking on Esplanade Ave. 

This is our annual Christmas meeting and Chef John Schluter is preparing a traditional Christmas dinner, choirmaster Emile Goettz is warming up his vocal chords, and Santa Walter Powers will have gifts for the ladies. 

Dinner will be served at 6:30PM, and the meeting will begin at 7:00PM. 

Each member is invited to bring a guest to the festivities.
